GSA’s data security experts are ready to help federal agencies meet their data security requirements, improve their compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and raise their grades.

Data security is a high priority within the federal government.  GSA has efficient, cost effective data security products and services to help agencies meet their Federal Information Management Security (FISMA) requirements.

In the wake of several serious federal data security breaches, Congress passed FISMA and the President signed it into law. FISMA was enacted to bolster computer and network security within the federal government. On April 12, 2007, the latest FISMA data security report card was released – resulting in a grade of C- overall for the federal government. GSA earned a FISMA grade of A in 2006 and A- in 2005.
