PART 2---PRODUCTS

                          [Refer to 02080-01-R]

PART 3---EXECUTION

3.01 ERECTION, INSTALLATION, APPLICATION

    A.   Use water-wetted, non-mechanical removal methods (hand
spudding) and promptly remove loosened material from the
floor. Continuous wetting of loosened material is not a
substitute for immediate removal, containment and
         disposal.

    B.   If air monitoring indicates airborne levels at or above
0.05 fibers per cubic centimeter, an approved amended
water solution, utilized in accordance with the
         manufacturers directions, shall immediately be
substituted for water wetting at the direction of the
         Contracting Officer s Representative.

    C.   Remove all loosened materials immediately from floor
areas including floor tile, mastic and wood subfloor and
place in burlap bags. Then insert filled burlap bags into
6-mil plastic bags. Filled plastic bag shall be placed
into covered dumpsters or other covered portable
containers lined with 6-mil polyethylene located on the
same floor. Dispose of removed material as asbestos
         waste.

    D.   Remove plywood subfloor using power tools as required.
Perform power cutting while inside negative pressure
         enclosure.

    E.   Limits of Removal:

         1.   Tile and mastic shall be removed only from the
              rooms and areas indicated.

         2.   The vinyl asbestos tile and asbestos-containing
mastic shall be removed from each floor or feature
indicated to a distance indicated. DO NOT CUT
TILES, EXCEPT ALONG EDGES OF THE WALLS TO REMAIN.

         3.   The Contractor shall remove all partial (non-whole)
              pieces of tile and mastic.

         4.   Remaining tiles shall abut against the other
remaining tiles on at least two sides.

         5.   Asbestos-containing mastic shall be removed by
solvents approved by the Contracting Officer. The
surface where mastic is removed shall be sprayed
              with an approved encapsulant.

         6.   The Contractor shall take all precautions that the
tile remaining after the abatement is secure and
completely fastened to the floor. All loose tiles
to remain must be re-cemented and secured.
