Electronics Disposal
GSA, Raytheon, and UNICOR will be conducting an electronics recycling/pick-up on Wednesday, April 9th and 10th, 2013. The event will start at 08:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm on the 9th and 08:00 am at 3:00 p.m on the 10th. This event is only for federal, state, and local agencies (no personal computer equipment is allowed). The collection point will be at the Raytheon warehouse parking lot at 2555 Ellsmere Avenue, Norfolk, Virginia 23513. Please enter the parking lot from the back entrance off of Henneman Drive. If you have electronics that you would like to recycle, please register online and then contact Richard Creal at richard.creal@gsa.gov or Toni Clark at toni.clark@gsa.gov with a pallet count so a determination can be made as to how many trucks from UNICOR will be required. Cut off for registering and providing a pallet count will be April 2, 2013. We are collecting pallets and shrink wrap to assist agencies that cannot provide their own. Pallets will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Equipment on the pallets is requested to be stacked 4 feet high and shrink wrapped for safe handling. Please also keep in mind, it is the agency's responsibility to load the equipment on the pallet and to mark the pallet with the agency's name (for record keeping down the road). Any special handling or destruction requirements of the equipment need to be declared in advance.
Prior to the collection event, training is going to be held at the Federal Building in Norfolk, VA on the 6th of March, 2013 at 10:00am to 11:30am. This event is being conducted as a discussion with your Area Property Officer and UNICOR to address property disposition issues and solutions regarding electronic scrap. The training will be held at the Norfolk Federal Building 200 Granby Street, Room 222. Norfolk, VA 23510-1886. The facility requires a federal government ID, driver's license or state ID.
