Dear Reader,

Welcome to the inaugural issue of Behind the Bricks, our first regional client focused newsletter. As Regional Commissioner, I recognize that communication between the Public Buildings Service (PBS) and our client agencies is paramount to our success. I hope that this quarterly newsletter will increase transparency, encourage feedback, and highlight projects that exemplify the standard of excellence we strive to achieve in the Northeast and Caribbean Region with all of our client interactions.

Much has changed over the past year since I became Regional Commissioner. Our feature article describes the organizational transformation we embarked upon and how the transformation will benefit our clients. In addition, this issue includes updates on the dedication of the new Federal Courthouse in Buffalo, NY, the zero environmental footprint (ZEF) parking garage in Hato Rey, PR, and our experience designing open workspaces in federal buildings. In what will be a permanent section of the newsletter, we introduce staff from our Office of Client Solutions and discuss their role in working with our clients. Finally, our sister organization, the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), details how they can help agencies save money while reducing their environmental footprint.

We hope you enjoy Behind the Bricks, and I look forward to sharing information with you in future issues. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for future articles, please send them to behind-the-bricks@gsa.gov.

Sincerely,

Joanna Rosato
Regional Commissioner
