Improving Weather in the South
The Federal Executive Board advises that FEDERAL OFFICES in the Metro Atlanta Area will OPEN TO THE PUBLIC on FRIDAY, February 14, 2014, with a DELAYED OPENING of 10 a.m. Other federal facilities throughout the Southeast may experience delayed openings or even closures on Friday, as well. To verify federal buildings opening in your area, contact the appropriate GSA property management office: Southeast Sunbelt Property Management Offices. Whether they make it to the office or not, many of GSA associates throughout the affected areas may be teleworking and continue to serve our customers and the American people.
This has been a trying week for many in the Southeast, as Governor Nathan Deal signed a state of emergency declaration for Georgia that included Metro Atlanta Area Counties due to winter weather conditions across central Georgia that included accumulating snow, freezing rain, and ice throughout Metro Atlanta. While weather conditions are improving and temperatures continue to rise, extreme caution should still be exercised throughout the metro travel area as frozen patches of precipitation continue to melt but may remain in shaded areas or on bridges and overpasses.
