NEPA/Public Engagement

The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) is the mandate of any federal agency or department for the protection of the environment. NEPA was enacted to ensure federal agencies consider the environmental impacts of their actions and decisions. For the proposed action, GSA has determined that the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is appropriate.  Public participation is the cornerstone of the NEPA process, and throughout the development of the EIS, the public will be provided a number of opportunities to provide comment.

Throughout the NEPA process for the project, GSA will provide public notice regarding public meetings, comment periods, and availability of environmental documents - so as to inform those persons and agencies who may be interested or affected.
