GSA Study Finds Biomass Boilers Are a Viable Option for Heating Federal Buildings

Jackson Federal Building Makeover Saves Taxpayers Nearly $400,000 Annually

The U.S. General Services Administration’s recently completed renovation of the Jackson Federal Building in downtown Seattle is already saving taxpayers nearly $400,000 annually in operation costs and driving down greenhouse gas emissions highlighting GSA’s ongoing commitment to superior environmental performance and maintaining federal buildings that reduce operating costs and save taxpayer dollars.

Former Seward’s Legends Restaurant Up for Auction

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has started an online auction to sell the former Legends Restaurant in downtown Seward. GSA will host an open house on Friday, July 11 from 1 - 4 p.m. AKDT and Saturday, July 12 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. AKDT.

The two story, 7,000+ square foot property, located at 412 Washington Street, is on a 120 ft by 100 ft commercial lot with available off-street parking, Constructed in 1985, the property was used as the Legends restaurant, bar and banquet hall before it was purchased by the National Park Service. The property is one block from Resurrection Bay in the downtown business core.

The Invitation for Bids is available at GSA’s auction website at RealEstateSales.gov (see "commercial" properties in Alaska). The minimum bid is $50,000.

The starting bid amount does not represent the value of the property, but rather provides a reasonable starting point for the online auction.

The Edith Green-Wendell Wyatt Federal Building in Portland, Oregon, was just named the Best Tall Buildings in the Americas by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats (CTBUH).
