GSA Donates 30 Laptops to Philadelphia-area School
Regional Administrator Sara Manzano-Diaz and Property Disposal Specialists Matthew Grace and Ryan Oliver visited the Belmont Charter School in Philadelphia on May 28 to observe students use laptops donated by GSA. Thirty laptops, valued at $48,000, were donated to the school. The Region is supporting President Obama’s Promise Zone initiative which addresses the challenges of deep and persistent poverty. Belmont Charter School is located in the target area of Philadelphia’s Promise Zone which is roughly two square miles in West Philadelphia’s Mantua neighborhood.

Third Annual E-Scrap Event in Norfolk Diverts 86,000 pounds of Waste from Landfills
GSA Personal Property Management, Area Property Officer, Richard Creal concluded the third annual E-scrap Event in Norfolk, Virginia, which took place April 15-18. 24 offices participated, representing 22 agencies and two businesses.
The event collected more than 86,000 pounds, or 43 tons, of electronic scrap that was diverted from landfills, which represent an increase of more than 14,000 pounds compared to last year’s event. This equates to a government savings of $46,000, and a value of 14 tons of carbon emissions not being released into the environment.
