WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. General Services Administration has selected Jacobs Facilities, Inc. of Arlington to be construction manager for the $100 million Annex project at the E. Barrett Prettyman U.S. Courthouse Annex.
The 351,500-square-foot annex will be adjacent to the existing courthouse, Third Street and Constitution Avenue. It will contain nine courtrooms and 19 judges' chambers and related office support space. Award-winning architect Michael Graves, in a joint venture with SmithGroup, designed the annex. The design features four bays on the Third Street side, delineating individual courtrooms.
GSA selected Jacobs Facilities based on evaluation of the technical and management factors, along with price and related factors, submitted in proposals by five interested firms. Jacobs Facilities will provide construction contract administration services, scheduling assistance and other construction phase services during the estimated three-and-a-half-year project.
