Making a More Sustainable Government: GSA Mid-Atlantic Region Buildings Earn LEED EBOM Certification
GSA is focused on reducing the federal government’s environmental footprint. One way we are accomplishing this goal is through the review and improvement of our federal facilities’ operations and maintenance.
GSA facility management teams are working to enhance sustainable practices through the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance (LEED® EBOM).
LEED for Existing Buildings certification encourages facility owners and operators to implement sustainable practices that reduce the environmental impact of their buildings. LEED EBOM identifies and rewards current best practices, and provides an outline for buildings to use less energy, water and natural resources; improve the indoor environment; and uncover operating inefficiencies.
The Mid-Atlantic Region is excited to announce that several regional facilities recently earned LEED EBOM Certification:
- William S. Moorhead Federal Building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (Silver)
- Robert N.C. Nix, Sr. Federal Building in Philadelphia (Silver)
- U.S. Courthouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Clarkson S. Fisher U.S. Courthouse and Annex in Trenton, New Jersey
- J. Caleb Boggs U.S. Courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware
GSA continues to work toward achieving LEED EBOM certification for additional regional facilities in our pursuit of greening the federal inventory.
