Orlando, Florida – The U.S. General Services Administration today opens GSA Expo 2007, its 13th major procurement showcase for federal, state and local customers.  Consistent with a steady annual rise in attendance, GSA expects more than 10,000 this year.

Local and national vendors will capture the attention of purchasing agents and procurement decision-makers as they display their products and services during this event, taking place today through May 17 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.  GSA Expo 2007 is free for federal and military participants, as well as for state and local government procurement officials.

"GSA Expo 2007 provides GSA customers and industry partners a great opportunity to meet each other and see outstanding products and services from American industry,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan.  “This is also our premier event for GSA customers to grow their procurement and acquisition savvy through top-quality training.  Together, we’ll be better able to respond to agency missions on a fiscally and procedurally sound, as well as timely, basis; and we save money for the American taxpayer.”

Those within the federal procurement community who find what they need at GSA Expo 2007 will be able to place their orders immediately by using GSAAdvantage!®, the agency’s award-winning online ordering system.  This system accesses GSA’s Multiple Award Schedules program, the top acquisition program in the federal government for commercial services and products.  GSA just opened the important Schedules program to state and local governments for purchasing disaster response and recovery products and services.

With more than 800 of GSA’s commercial partners featured during GSA Expo 2007, the showcase continues its record as the agency’s major customer outreach event.  Held annually since 1996, this year’s show will also offer more than 250 training hours on topics ranging from small business support to travel and transportation to personal property solutions to performance-based acquisition.  Continuous Learning Points are awarded for all completed training, and classes are taught by federal subject matter experts carefully selected by GSA for their expertise.
