WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) signed agreements with two government-approved contractors to provide the first opportunity for federal agencies to buy risk-analysis services to identify harm caused by data breaches, GSA announced today.

“GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) is providing government agencies with another set of tools to protect citizens from the consequences of compromised data,” said GSA Administrator Lurita Doan. “Through these agreements, the federal government will be able to identify risks and work to prevent breaches.”

GSA signed blanket purchase agreements (BPAs) on Sept. 28 with Identity Theft Guard Solutions LLC of Beaverton, Ore., a small business, and SRA International Co. Inc. of Fairfax, Va., a large business. Together, the companies provide all services that agencies need to identify threats, correct vulnerabilities and manage risks, related to sensitive personal information.

These multiple award schedule BPAs create an effective, efficient buying mechanism, which saves time, lowers costs and reduces paperwork. The BPA numbers are GS-23F-IRA01, for Identity Safeguard, and GS-23F-IRA02, for SRA International.

Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the federal government. GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,600 government-owned or leased buildings and 208,000 vehicles. GSA helps preserve our past and define our future, as a steward of more than 425 historic properties, and as manager of USA.gov, the official portal to federal government information and services. GSA’s mission to provide superior workplaces, expert technology solutions, acquisition services, purchasing and E-Gov travel solutions and management policies, at best value, allows federal agencies to focus on their core missions.

Did You Know? FAS annual business volume of $46 billion accounts for more than one-seventh of the entire federal procurement budget.  FAS manages acquisition programs that include information technology, telecommunications, furniture, tools, office products and supply items, and all travel, motor vehicles and charge card services.
