NEWS BRIEFS
New Public Light Rail Transportation Available Starting April 26, 2013
In just a few short weeks, the Regional Transportation District’s West Rail Line will open. It will be the first completed rail line of the RTD Fastracks Project and will include 12.1 miles of light rail running between Denver Union Station and the Jefferson County Government Center in Golden. It will add 11 new stations, 6 Park- n-Rides and 3 new Call-n-Rides to the system. One of the largest stations on the new line will be right here at the Denver Federal Center - the new Federal Center Station at 2nd Place; Routt Street, just west of DFC Gate 5 entrance. Already open to extensive bus service, light rail will provide added transportation services to our federal customers and the surrounding Lakewood community.
RTD will be making significant operational changes to regional and local bus services, including the addition of Call- n-Ride Services, with the opening of the West Rail Line. Patrons are encouraged to learn more about these changes, as well as the rail services, go to www.rtd-denver.com (non-government website).
We are excited about this significant milestone in the redevelopment efforts of the DFC, and the greater access to the metro area that the new rail line and related transportation services will provide.
Fostering imaginations and preserving a unique heritage: On My Own Time
In 2012, GSA partnered with Colorado Business Community for the Arts, Arts & Venues Denver, and Colorado Creative Industries, to feature original artwork created by City of Denver, State of Colorado, and Colorado-based federal government employees on their own free time. GSA featured one of the art exhibits in Building 41 at the Denver Federal Center in Lakewood, CO, October 2012. GSA received 33 submissions and the exhibit was juried by a distinguished panel of arts professionals chosen by CBCA. The winning entries from each agency show where then displayed in the Multi-Agency OMOT Employee Art Exhibition at the Colorado State Capitol Building in the Basement Rotunda as well as Lt. Governor Joe Garcia’s office and will reside there until May 13, 2013. GSA employees Jessica Loving Campos and Diane Authier each received honorable mentions and were awarded a certificate and prize from Lt. Governor Garcia.
