Open Data at GSA

The President’s Executive Order and accompanying Open Data Policy – Managing Information as an Asset, issued on May 9, 2013, expand on the principles of Open Government to make the Federal government more open, transparent and collaborative with its Open Datacitizens, stakeholders and the public. The policy requires that agencies open up new data and information, making them available in machine-readable formats. The publicly released data will provide fuel for innovation in both government and industry, allow better decision making by our government, provide collaboration opportunities for the public with their government, and make open data the new norm in federal information technology.     American Job Center partners with O'Net to provide a variety of APIs useful for jobseekers.

  • BusinessUSA Resource Access API
    BusinessUSA connects businesses to government services and information. The API provides access to resource abstracts including programs, services, data, events, and more.

    This API lists the topics that we use to organize content on You can access it via the /tags call to the Social Media Registry.

  • Data Center Consolidation API
    The Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative inventory and track the progress efforts to consolidate US government data centers.

  • FedBizOpps Documentation
    In addition to the ability to interact directly with FedBizOpps using its on-line web interface, the service supports Web Services for Federal buyers to post information to the database using their agency’s electronic procurement system.

    The MyGov Discovery API provides a services to discover related government content. Each page is assigned tags, which are used to find similarly tagged pages.

    This API contains maximum lodging reimbursement per diem rates and the meals and incidental (M&IE) rates for 392 locations across the continental United States for Fiscal Year 2013.

    This API returns food, car, and product safety data and recalls.

    The Social Media Registry is an official source of information about federal government social media accounts

    Provides USASearch customers their search results in XML, JSON, or JSON-P. This API is only available for use on official government websites. Sign in is required.
