GSA Has Furniture; Together We Build Solutions

GSA offers various furniture types such as office, work systems, seating, filing/storage, residential, hospital, and specialty furniture.  As part of the Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI), GSA Federal Acquisition Service has engaged our clients and the furniture industry to discuss a possible strategic sourcing solution focused on federal furniture purchasing.

FSSI solutions provide easy access to common procurement vehicles that offer business intelligence, best practice solutions, and greater discounts as volume increases.  As one of 10 new strategic sourcing efforts over the last two years, the proposed furniture solution will center around office furniture including, but not limited to, seating, shelving, tables, workstations, and displays.

GSA is looking for feedback from federal clients and industry partners on its approach to building this strategic sourcing solution for furniture products and services.  As a way to gather feedback, GSA has created “Interact”—an open, collaborative online community for connecting, communicating, learning, and engaging across topics.  The FSSI Furniture Interact page will serve as the one-stop-shop for all updates and information regarding this initiative.

Interact provides industry and government a forum to gather and share feedback on proposed strategies, discuss ideas, and work together to create the most effective and efficient strategic sourcing solution for furniture products and services.  The goal is to leverage the federal government’s high volume of furniture purchases to drive savings and operational efficiencies, and allow for smarter, data-driven furniture purchasing decisions.

In addition to opening up the conversation through Interact, GSA issued a Request for Information (RFI) from the furniture industry on March 27 and held a follow-up meeting with furniture industry representatives.  Join the discussion on Interact for the most up-to-date information on this initiative.
