From the Desk of Joanna Rosato
In the Spring edition of Focus, we discuss how we are working to build a stronger GSA, make a more sustainable government, and deliver better value and savings.
We are excited to introduce Norman Dong, our new GSA Public Buildings Service Commissioner. In this edition, you can read about the wealth of experience he brings to GSA. We also share news of two recent selections within the GSA Mid-Atlantic Region; new Field Office Managers at our Delaware Valley and Charleston, WV, Field Offices who emphasize collaboration and cooperation to ensure our clients are receiving the best service from GSA.
We celebrate six GSA Property Managers who recently earned designations from the Building Owners and Managers Institute, ensuring they have the very best training and knowledge to serve our clients and deliver our mission as efficiently and effectively as possible.
This edition of Focus highlights examples of how we are helping our client agencies find the space and services they need to serve the American people at better value. You’ll read how GSA helped the Social Security Administration save on annual rent and guard services through a consolidation into a first rate training center in Philadelphia. We also share news of the dedication of a new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Norfolk Field Office in Chesapeake, VA, which includes a dedicated command center the FBI uses when responding to emergencies in coordination with other law enforcement agencies.
We are making great progress toward reducing our government’s environmental and fiscal footprints. GSA’s Green Proving Ground continues to partner with national research laboratories to perform real-world evaluations of potential energy, water, and cost saving emerging building technologies. We invite you to explore the recently published results of four such technologies.
In this edition, we also introduce you to the newest version of GSA’s Facilities Standards for the Public Buildings Service (P100), which have a strengthened focus on outcomes and performance. And, you can learn more about how GSA is engaging our clients and the furniture industry in discussions on developing a strategic sourcing solution focused on federal furniture purchasing.
Together we continue to build solutions.
