About Presidential Transitions
The transfer of power from one administration to the next marks a significant moment in U.S. history. The Presidential Transition Acts of 1963 and 2000 give the General Services Administration (GSA) a prominent role in this process. They authorize the Administrator of GSA to provide the President-elect and the Vice-President-elect the services and facilities needed to assume their official duties.

The 2012 Presidential Transition

As the 2012 Election nears, and as GSA fulfills its mission of supporting Presidential Transitions, this site will have updates and news. Because this site fulfills requirements from the Presidential Transition Acts of 1963 and 2000 and the Pre-Election Presidential Transition Act, it will serve as a resource for documenting GSA's Transition Activities and for informing the Executive Branch and its appointees.

PAST TRANSITIONS
Since 1964, GSA has played a central role in Presidential Transitions. The agency provides many of the business support needs of the incoming administration, while also ensuring that the outgoing President and former Vice-President are assisted in their transition from office.
