IT Portfolio Management
IT Portfolio Management (ITPM) is a risk based approach to the selection and management of IT projects integrating business and IT planning and architecture, budgeting, standards, business processes and governance.
The GSA OCIO plays a significant role in GSA’s IT Portfolio Management activities, and is directly responsible for managing a number of the essential processes for successful ITPM implementation. Principle among these is IT Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC).
The OCIO actively leads and participates in a number of related processes and activities directly impacting the direction, scope and contribution of the IT portfolio to GSA’s goals and objectives. These processes include:
- Enterprise Architecture
- Budget Formulation
- Budget Execution
- Performance Management
- Strategic Business Planning
- IT Strategic Planning
- IT Governance
- IT Project Management
These processes work collaboratively to provide an environment in which IT investment management strategy, tactics and decision making effectively and efficiently support the agency’s desired business outcomes.
