Recovery Act in the New England Region
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) provided GSA with funds for investments in federal buildings and procurement of more energy-efficient motor vehicles.
GSA has carefully planned these investments to stimulate the American economy and improve the environmental performance of federal assets, particularly through the reduction of carbon-based fuel use. Many of these projects will contribute greatly to the sustainability and energy efficiency of federal facilities. Some features include:
- Addition of photovoltaic panels to roofs
- Replacement of chillers and boilers
- Installation of energy-efficient lighting, air-conditioning and advanced metering systems
- Improvements to mechanical systems and controls
