Betsaida Alcantara - Associate Administrator for Communications and Marketing
Betsaida Alcantara serves as the Associate Administrator for the Office of Communications and Marketing at the U.S. General Services Administration.
In that role, she serves as the principal adviser to Acting Administrator Dan Tangherlini on media relations, communications strategy and public outreach. She oversees internal and external communications at the agency, including web management.
Prior to joining GSA, Alcantara served as the Press Secretary for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. In this role, she served as the spokesperson for the 13,000 employee agency and its Administrator. While at the EPA, she helped manage press activities around major actions to clean up air and water pollution and to promote clean energy. This included helping to manage communications on behalf of the agency following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf Coast in 2010.
For almost two years, Alcantara worked in various capacities for U.S. Senator Robert Menendez in Washington, D.C. and was later a spokesperson for the Obama presidential campaign in Florida.
Alcantara graduated from Bard College and grew up in New York State.
