GSA Awards $13 Million Telecommunications Contract to Alaska Communications

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded a $13 million, eight-year contract for telecommunications services to ACS Messaging, Inc., a subsidiary of Alaska Communications Systems (ACS) Group.

ACS Messaging will provide integrated telecommunications services and associated management to approximately 35 federal agencies serving more than 8,000 lines in Anchorage, Kenai Peninsula, Juneau, Fairbanks North Star, and Kodiak Island/Sitka. The company was awarded the contract as a small business through a full and open competitive source selection process.

GSA’s Northwest/Arctic Region awarded more than $37 million out of $49 million available contract obligations to small businesses across Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington between October 2012 and September 2013, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to support the companies that power the American economy. Approximately $2.7 million was awarded to small businesses in Alaska during this period.

“Small business is critical to the economic fabric of this region,” said Northwest/Arctic Region Regional Administrator George Northcroft. “This telecommunications contract award is a testament to GSA’s diligence in ensuring that small businesses are given an opportunity to provide products and services for the federal government.”

GSA also awarded GCI Communication Corp. an eight-year, $3.35 million telecommunications service contract to support agencies in the Ketchikan, Alaska.
