Commonly referred to as the “apex building,” the Federal Trade Commission is housed in the building located at the tip of the Federal Triangle, at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Constitution Avenues, NW. The final building to be completed under the Public Building Act of 1926, the apex building was the last building added to the Federal Triangle until the construction of the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in the 1980s. Designed with the FTC as the intended occupant, the building exterior is decorated with allegorical sculptures and bas reliefs depicting different aspects of trade. Today, the Federal Trade Commission enforces laws that prohibit unfair methods of competition and deceptive trade practices.
