Washington, DC –The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today kicked off the 7th Annual National Motor Vehicle and Aviation Exposition and Workshops in Orlando, Florida. Administrator Lurita Doan will deliver remarks at the opening session to Federal fleet and aviation professionals Tuesday morning.
“GSA plays several roles when it comes to the fleet: we help develop governmentwide policy; we buy, sell and lease vehicles, and we have our own GSA fleet,” said Administrator Doan. “We are committed to providing world class fleet services at the lowest possible cost. This is a formula that will yield major dividends for our customers, our citizens and our environment.”
FedFleet 2007, expected to draw 1,300 attendees, is comprised of the Federal Fleet Manager Workshop and Information Fair and the Aviation Safety Officer Workshop. The mission of the FedFleet Workshop is to provide a forum for Federal fleet and aviation professionals from all agencies at all levels to discuss regulatory and legislative issues, to explore new technological advances, to provide fleet-specific training and to provide an atmosphere for interaction to discuss common problems and best practices.
Additionally, FedFleet 2007 emphasizes Performance Measurement and Navigating Success. Federal fleet professionals have the opportunity to take groundbreaking action that will affect the performance of the entire federal government. Conference training sessions will focus on: Measuring Your Fleet's Performance; OMB's Perspective on Planning, Budgeting, and Performance in Federal Fleet Management; EPACT and E.O. 13149 and 13423 - Lessons Learned and Moving Forward; and, Overcoming Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Barriers. Additional sessions will address:
- Where the management and operation of the federal fleet is headed;
- How to enact the beneficial changes needed in federal fleet management;
- Trends, technological advances, and best practices;
- Ways to decrease costs and increase productivity; and,
- How to make fleet operation and management as efficient and cost effective as possible.
FedFleet 2007 is also offering Aviation Safety Officer training that will cover areas ranging from aviation psychology and human factors to safely managing aging aircraft and basic accident investigations.

Founded in 1949, GSA serves as a centralized procurement and property management agency for the Federal government. GSA manages more than one-fourth of the government’s total procurement dollars and influences the management of $500 billion in federal assets, including 8,300 government-owned or leased buildings and 170,000 vehicles.
