Helping Small Business Navigate the Federal Government

Regional Administrator George Northcroft and Small Business Program Manager Kenyon Taylor recently spent a morning at the William Factory Small Business Incubator, in Tacoma, Washington, sharing insights on doing business with the federal government. The William Factory is home to more than 30 businesses ranging from consulting services to general contractors.
Business incubators are located nationwide and have programs designed to accelerate the successful development of entrepreneurial companies through an array of business support resources and services.
Northcroft and Kenyon provided an overview of GSA's mission, customer profile, and contract opportunities, and steps businesses can take to better prepare themselves for being competitive in the federal marketplace.
GSA helps small businesses connect with government construction contracting opportunities in our public buildings, and provides opportunities to sell other agencies goods and services through the Multiple Award Schedules purchasing program. In 2011, the Northwest/Arctic Region contracted with small business for $42 million in repairs and services for our Federal office buildings, and helped other Federal agencies buy more than $2 billion in goods and services from small and disadvantaged businesses.
