Region One Makes a Difference Through Food Drive

All it takes is one meal to make a difference in the lives of families in need and thanks to GSA Region One’s Feds Feed Families campaign, dozens of people will be able to enjoy that basic necessity.

From September through October, collection boxes at the Tip O’Neill Federal Building in Boston, Mass. were filled with cans, boxes, and bags of food. In total, 421 pounds of food was attained, packaged, and dropped off at the Greater Boston Food Bank. It’s in their massive distribution center in South Boston where GSA’s donations will now be sorted, stocked, and delivered to local food pantries, community meal programs, and other food assistance agencies.

Because of the generous donations during this campaign, augmented by the Greater Boston Food Bank, people living in cities and towns in Massachusetts will see some hunger relief. This campaign has not just helped local people, however. Since 2009, GSA has collected more than a million pounds of food and non-perishable items for those in need nationwide. During the 2017 Feds Feed Families food drive, GSA raised an astounding 104,019 pounds of food and non-perishable items for needy families across the country.
