GSA Awards Local Small Business $4 Million Fire Alarm Upgrade Project
The U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA), New England Region (Region One) is focused on working with small businesses in the region to make them aware of regional procurement opportunities that can lead to their successfully landing government contracts.
With the Administration’s focus on economic recovery and getting America’s small businesses back on track, Region One’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) and Public Buildings Service (PBS) recently awarded Springfield, Mass.-based Brican Incorporated - a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, a $3.9 million Design Build Contract to increase the level of fire and life safety at a federal building in New Hampshire.
Brican Incorporated is a general contracting company specializing in quality commercial, industrial and institutional building systems.
Region One’s PBS team issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) through the Small Business Administration (SBA) Small Business Dynamic Search DataBase, along with issuing a Sources Sought Notice via Federal Biz Ops. After diligently reviewing multiple small businesses capabilities, the team awarded the contract to Brican on April 28.
Brican, Inc. will oversee the design, construction, and commission of a new fire alarm system at the Warren B. Rudman Courthouse and the James C. Cleveland Federal Building.
The company will also ensure the removal of the old fire alarm system, which lacks a voice evacuation feature. This new feature will alert people to the type of emergency and notify them to make their way to the emergency exit.
“GSA’s New England Region’s mission - and GSA’s mission in general - is to deliver value and savings in real estate, acquisition, technology, and other mission-support services across government to provide effective and efficient government for the American people,” said Glenn C Rotondo, Acting GSA Regional Administrator for New England. “We look forward to continuing the effort of working with the region’s small business to make that mission a reality.”
The New England Region’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) serves as GSA’s regional liaison and advocate for small businesses within Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. As an advocate for small business owners, it is the mission of the OSDBU to promote increased access to GSA’s nationwide procurement opportunities.
