GSA Awards $2.44 Million Contract for Fire Alarm Replacement at the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse in Boston to SBA 8(a) Certified Small Business

BOSTON The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), in keeping with the administration’s goal to ensure that more small, disadvantaged businesses have a seat at the federal procurement table, today announced that it has awarded an SBA 8(a) small business a $2.44 million contract for complete fire alarm system replacement at the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse in Boston.

Working closely with the Small Business Administration, GSA teams hosted several interviews with potential 8(a) vendors. After extensive evaluations, G Force Engineering & Construction Services was selected for this project.

This project includes:

  • A complete system design
  • Conduit installation for the fire alarm system “backbone”
  • Fiber Optic cable installation within the backbone conduit
  • Creation of a new fire command center

The design is anticipated to begin in early January 2022, with construction estimated to be complete by the end of the year.

This is phase 1 of a 2-phase system replacement project. As part of phase 1, the project will deliver a complete system design and construction of the communication riser (backbone) as well as a new Fire Command Center. Phase 1 will lay the groundwork for the future phase 2 project

The John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse is located in Boston’s waterfront Seaport District on Fan Pier and situated along Boston’s Harborwalk. Completed in 1998, it serves as the headquarters for the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. It was named after John Joseph Moakley, a Representative for Massachusetts’ 9th congressional district from 1973-2001.
