Environmental Assessment and Finding Of No Significant Impact Consolidation of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Headquarters

Project background

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) in cooperation with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the consolidation of USCIS Headquarters in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia. GSA has determined that a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is appropriate for this project. The Final EA and FONSI were prepared in accordance with Section 102 of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

NEPA requires a Federal agency to provide the public with an opportunity to participate in the process of analyzing the impacts of Federal actions on the human environment. The Final EA identified and compared the potential impacts that might result from the proposed action alternative (i.e., consolidation of six USCIS locations into one location in Camp Springs, Maryland) and a no action alternative.

Public involvement opportunity

The Final EA and FONSI are being made available to the public and Federal, and local government agencies for review. Comments are due no later than February 28, 2017. Please send all written comments and inquiries to:
