Congratulations PBS R2 Federal Customer Award

PBS Region 2 was awarded the Federal Customer Award at SourceAmerica’s Xforce National Conference during Public Recognition Week (May 6-10). This award honors a federal customer who has provided opportunities and support for the employment of people with disabilities through an AbilityOne contract for products or services.

PBS Region 2 Northern Border Property Management Office employees Norm Gauthier (retired), Brian O’Connor, Adam Tisdale, and Burton Weatherly were nominated by The Arc Jefferson St. Lawrence for “being so responsive, approachable, caring, and respectful of all staff.”

For two decades, GSA and The Arc have provided meaningful, quality employment for approximately 80 people with disabilities in rural areas of upstate New York. This work includes providing 24/7 custodial and related services at ten land ports of entry spanning a 150-mile stretch of border between New York State and Canada. These ports are major crossing points for commercial vehicles and are some of the most heavily traveled border crossings in the Northeast. Yet, these are some of the cleanest ports in the country thanks in large part to the partnership between Region 2 and The Arc. One of these ports even has a cattle barn, where roughly 800 cattle are offloaded and inspected each year, but the barn floor remains spotless thanks to The Arc.

Congratulations PBS Region 2 for this great achievement!
