GSA and Veterans Affairs convey Highland Drive Property to the City of Pittsburgh
Historic property will become new training facility for emergency responders
PITTSBURGH — The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and the Department of Veterans Affairs Pittsburgh Health Care System (VAPHS) are pleased to announce the conveyance of the property at 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh to the City of Pittsburgh for public benefit.
The Highland Drive property served area veterans for nearly 60 years and will continue serving the community as the future site of the City of Pittsburgh Law Enforcement and Emergency Management Training and Operations Center. The City applied for law enforcement and emergency management use of the property, which was approved by FEMA and the DOJ.
“We are very proud of the Highland Drive VA’s six decades of honorable service to Pittsburgh area Veterans and are honored to continue providing the care offered there at our University Drive and H.J. Heinz III campuses,” said Donald E. Koenig, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System Director. “We are very pleased to hand this property over to our valued partners and friends of the City of Pittsburgh to be used in a way that will help them serve and protect our community.”
