GSA continues to execute its water quality management program - testing our federal facilities, communicating results to our customers, and instituting quality controls to ensure the safety of the tenants and visitors to our buildings.
On November 19, 2024, we presented a Client Enrichment Series (CES) session to provide an update on our progress, resources, and engagement opportunities. You can watch the recorded session to learn more about:
- Current status of GSA’s Water Quality Management Program
- Updated guidelines, communications and signage implementation
- A review of the Water Quality Management Dashboard
- Customer questions and answers with our expert panel
Hear directly from GSA’s expert consultants from Special Pathogens Laboratory (SPL) on the topic of GSA’s water quality management program. You can also download the slidedeck presentation for review and reference.
In addition to the recorded CES session, SPL experts discuss GSA’s water quality management program with an emphasis on Legionella in this short, 10 minute video.
SPL Founder and Executive Vice President Dr. Janet Stout is an internationally recognized clinical and environmental microbiologist with 40 years of research in Legionella, the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease. Dr. Stout was instrumental in developing the first U.S. prevention strategy for hospital-acquired Legionnaires’ disease that now serves as the model for national Legionella guidelines. She is joined by Dr. Abraham Collum, SPL Director of Water Safety and Management. Dr. Collum earned a PhD in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and his peer-reviewed research has elucidated the impact of the in-building plumbing environment on important opportunistic pathogens, antibiotic resistance, and microbial ecology.
