Heartland GSA Recognized for Commitment to Energy Efficiency

KANSAS CITY, MO — This spring, GSA’s Public Buildings Service received two honors that illustrate the agency’s commitment to excellence in sustainability and energy conservation.
KC North | Mayor’s Energy Efficiency Award
In April, the team that manages downtown Kansas City federal buildings received a 2016 Mayor’s Energy Efficiency Award. The award was presented to the Kansas City North Field Office, whose purview includes the Charles Evans Whittaker U.S. Courthouse and the Richard Bolling Federal Building. The Field Office team was recognized along with local companies and organizations who achieved “Superior Energy Operations through Building Operator Certification.”
Chris Cockrill (Energy Efficiency Expert) | FEB Lifetime Achievement Award
In May, PBS energy efficiency expert Chris Cockrill received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board. Among other achievements, Chris guided GSA’s Heartland Region to a 33 percent reduction in energy usage over a 10-year period. In addition he has forged research alliances that led to nationally adopted energy efficiency evaluations.
