Environmental Review
GSA is in the process of conducting an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the modernization project with input from the public via public meetings and written/emailed comments. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), GSA is now finalizing the EIS. Once the final EIS is released, a mandatory 30-day waiting period will follow before the Record of Decision (ROD) can be signed. It is important to note that the final EIS will be one of several key factors that federal decision-makers will consider in determining the ROD for the project.
The final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the BOTA LPOE modernization project is scheduled for publication on January 3, 2025. This document will incorporate feedback received during the draft EIS comment period. Following the release of the final EIS, there is a mandatory 30-day waiting period before the Record of Decision (ROD) can be signed. The ROD, expected in February 2025, will officially select the preferred alternative and provide the rationale behind its choice.
