Biden-Harris Administration Announces $820,000 Contract Award for Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Project at Bridge of the Americas Land Port of Entry
EL PASO, Texas ㅡ The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) awarded a $820,000 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law contract to Richter Associates to complete an Enhanced Feasibility Study for the Bridge of the Americas Land Port of Entry (LPOE). The contract, awarded under the 8(a) program for small businesses, will help determine future workplace needs based on projected requirements to identify viable alternatives for future selection.
“Investing in our land port of entry helps GSA support the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration,” said Acting Regional Administrator Giancarlo Brizzi. “By modernizing the land port of entry, we will be able to better support their mission to secure our borders while also strengthening the U.S. economy.”
“The economic prosperity of El Paso and the strength of our national supply chain relies on the trade flowing across our outdated land ports of entry,” said Congresswoman Veronica Escobar. “Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the much-needed modernization and expansion of the Bridge of the Americas Land Port of Entry will be fully funded. I look forward to working closely with the General Services Administration, the Department of Homeland Security, and community partners and stakeholders in our binational region to ensure this project creates good-paying jobs, promotes economic growth and development, and reduces air pollution in the borderland.”
The Bridge of the Americas LPOE is one of 26 major construction and modernization projects at LPOEs funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides funds to modernize and improve LPOEs at the northern and southern borders. The upgrades to these facilities will provide considerable capacity improvement for pedestrians and cross border travelers, while supporting the ability of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to ensure a safe and secure border. The BIL projects will also enhance safety and security, strengthen our supply chains, and lower costs for American families.
The BOTA LPOE processes toll-free inbound and outbound commercial, non-commercial, and pedestrian traffic to and from Ciudad Juarez, in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico and is the busiest LPOE in the City of El Paso.
