FAS Procures New Airbus H125 for City of Albuquerque's Police Department

GSA’s Federal Acquisition Solutions (FAS) manages contracts to help our customers accomplish their work by providing cost effective solutions for products and services to satisfy their business needs. These contracts offer everything from state-of-the-art IT equipment and complex professional services to janitorial products at rates that have been pre-negotiated to ensure best value to state, local and federal governments as well as the American Taxpayer.

The City of Albuquerque’s Police Department contacted GSA with a requirement for a helicopter to increase the operational effectiveness and safety for law enforcement teams and the citizens of Albuquerque. Through the partnership between the GSA, the City and our industry partner Davenport Aviation, GSA utilized Schedule 84 and the Cooperative Purchasing Program to acquire the brand new Airbus H125.

In January 2020, GSA’s Region 7 joined the City of Albuquerque’s Police Department for the ribbon cutting and acceptance ceremony of a newly manufactured Airbus H125 helicopter. During the event, the City of Albuquerque emphasized the importance of the aircraft to their mission and applauded GSA for providing the most efficient and cost efficient tool available to acquire the needed equipment. In addition to increasing operational effectiveness and safety, the Airbus will greatly enhance coordination with other first responders in a broad array of scenarios.

Through this Schedule 84 solution, and GSA’s strong industry partner and customer relationships, 23 helicopters have been ordered from a variety of federal, state and local customers to date, and conversations are currently underway to provide even more aircraft to law enforcement units across New Mexico and Texas.
