GSA Announces the Substantial Completion of FAST Lanes at World Trade LPOE

LAREDO, Texas - The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is pleased to announce the substantial completion of new commercial lanes at the World Trade Land Port of Entry (LPOE).  Through the Donations Program, GSA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the City of Laredo engaged in a formal partnership that included the donation of infrastructure and technology services to construct Free and Secure Trade for Commercial Vehicles (FAST) lanes.  The lanes will speed the processing of commercial trucks through the LPOE.

Prior to the construction of the FAST lanes, the high volume of commercial traffic resulted in bottlenecking for commercial trade at the LPOE. The addition of new lanes will reduce wait times for travelers by diverting pre-approved, low-risk commercial carriers to the newly designated lanes for expedited processing.  The FAST lanes are expected to be fully operational in January 2023.  A ribbon cutting ceremony to recognize the project’s full completion is planned for that time.
