GSA Uses Research Technology to Respond to Space Force Needs in New Mexico

When the General Services Administration learned of Kirtland Air Force Base’s upcoming need for a modular facility to support the U.S. Space Force Rapid Capabilities Office, we knew we could provide them with a quick solution. In fact we knew we could provide them many solutions to choose from because of our Market Research as a Service offering. This service uses artificial intelligence to conduct research allowing both GSA and our customers to sort through hundreds of thousands of products and services in 24 to 48 hours; a process that used to take weeks and even months!
Shortly after our initial meeting with Kirkland, GSA got to work. Our Customer Service Director Dave Dehon worked with our Southwest Supply Acquisition Center business development and contracting staff to clarify the SCIF requirements, answer any customer questions and begin a targeted MRAS search. The results generated a sorted survey identifying vendors available to provide the facility within the required timelines and budget for the project. A once belabored process of searching and reviewing is now possible in less than a fraction of the time. And it’s a free service to our customers.
Both Kirtland Airforce Base and the U.S. Space Force Rapid Capabilities Office expressed their sincere appreciation of GSA personnel who contributed to the project’s success. Through the use of MRAS, GSA was able to successfully acquire a 200,000 square foot modular SCIF which is currently being installed on the west side of the base. The total award for this project was $15M for a lease and option to purchase.
The Federal Acquisition Service arm of GSA focuses solely on leveraging the buying power of the federal government to negotiate the best pricing on many of the products and services our customers use on a daily basis to support their mission. Federal, state, local and tribal governments have access to over $60 billion in offerings ranging from information technology products, to travel and transportation management.
