Region 7 receives Federal Green Challenge Awards

In a ceremony at the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Dallas offices on July 10, Region 7 accepted its first national and three regional Federal Green Challenge (FGC) awards. FGC is a national effort managed by EPA that challenges federal agencies to lead by example in reducing the federal government’s environmental impact.

FGC awards are offered in two categories; data driven and narrative. Data driven awards, given in the six target areas of waste, electronics, purchasing, energy, water and transportation, are based on the greatest percentage of change over the previous year. Narrative awards are self nominating and are given in the categories of innovation, education and outreach, and leadership. The 2018 FGC also included awards for the highest percentage of materials managed during one fiscal year.
