Conference Center Lighting
Conference meeting room lighting may be controlled by a series of switches and dimmers, or by a Grafik Eye control unit.
For rooms with standard switches and dimmers, each device controls a zone of lighting in a relatively intuitive fashion. Unlike in open office areas, there is no “Master ON” button and no different modes of operation based on time of day. These areas are typically also controlled by occupancy sensors, which will turn the lights off when unoccupied.
To manually adjust individual lighting zones:
- A two-button switch turns a lighting zone ON or OFF
- The top button is “ON”
- The bottom button is “OFF”
- A 5-button switch turns a lighting zone ON or OFF and can adjust (dim) the light output through a range
- The top rectangular button is “MAX ON”
- The bottom rectangular button is “OFF”
- The top triangular button brightens the lighting zone up to the maximum level.
- The bottom triangular button dims the lighting zone manually down to the minimum level.
- The circular middle button recalls a favorite light level. After the lights are manually adjusted to a certain level, pressing and holding the circular middle button down for 6 seconds will “save” this as the new favorite light level. Tapping the button momentarily will recall that light level in the future. The favorite light level can always be reprogrammed by hold the button down for 6 seconds.
- Note that areas adjacent to windows are also controlled automatically by light sensing photocells. The lights in these areas cannot be manually adjusted to be brighter than the maximum level allowed by the photocell, based on the available daylight entering the space.
- If the manual up/down dimming buttons do not seem to have an effect, then the lights are already at the respective maximum or minimum levels.
For rooms with a Grafik Eye controller
, the lighting control is scene-based. The Grafik Eye unit contains a keypad in the lower right corner with a series of preprogrammed lighting scenes.
Pushing each of the buttons will adjust all of the lighting in the room to preset levels in order to create a specific scene. The bottom button will typically turn all of the lights off. An occupancy sensor will also turn all the lights off if the room becomes unoccupied.
Manually and temporarily adjusting specific lighting zones within a scene is possible by flipping up the translucent dark cover and using the manual adjustment arrows there. These changes are temporary and will not be saved for the next time that scene is recalled.

In some cases, two meeting rooms may be separated by a movable partition. In these cases, a partition sensor is present so that the Grafik Eye control unit knows the status of the partition.
- When the partition is closed, the Grafik Eye control unit in each room controls the lights in each room separately.
- When the partition is open, either Grafik Eye control unit will control all of the lights in both rooms.
For some scenes, for example AV mode, the projection screen may automatically lower as part of the lighting control scene.
Conference Center Mechanized Shades
The mechanized shade panel is located on the wall next to the main entry door. The bottom button brings the shades down. The upper button raised the blind. Pushing the upper or lower button quickly stops the blind in place.
Conference Center Projector Screen
The operational panel is located below the ceiling mounted projector screen box. Push the bottom button to lower the screen. The middle button stops the screen in its current position. Pushing the top button raises the screen.
Heating System
The heating system for Conference and Meeting Rooms operates the same as for the Open Office area. However, the temperature setting should be set to Setting 1 so as to avoid simultaneous heating and cooling through the local cooling system as described below.
Cooling System
The cooling system is a ceiling mounted unit which is manually activated from the wall controller with a nominal two hour run time. Should the room require cooling for longer than two hours, simply reset the “ON” selector. The system is designed for cooling only with heating provided via the steam radiators.
The system should be returned to its “OFF” position when leaving the room.
During occupied hours the unit will cycle to maintain a standby space temperature.
The available controls are:
- ON-OFF (indicated by the green light)
- Temperature adjustment (indicated by the Up and Down arrows)
- Fan Speed (adjustable from the lower left with fan speed display)
- While there is a MODE adjustment, this should always remain in the COOL position. Other positions may affect the operation of the unit but not significantly as the temperature setting will override.
Ventilation System
The mechanical ventilation system is automatic when the air conditioning unit is activated. There is an indoor air quality sensor to monitor the space conditions and to control the volume of outside air to the space.
