GSA Temporarily Closes I-5 South Traffic Leading to San Ysidro Port

I-5S Freeway Paving Detours Vehicles to I-805 via SR-905 overnight on April 14

 

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. —

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announces a temporary, nine-hour roadway closure of southbound Interstate 5 (I-5) freeway traffic. The traffic will be detoured to southbound Interstate I-805 (I-805) freeway via the SR-905 connector from 10 p.m. April 14, 2019, to 7 a.m. April 15, 2019. The Camino De La Plaza southbound I-5 freeway on-ramp will be closed during this same time frame. 

Additionally, from 10 p.m. April 14, 2019, to 7 a.m. April 15, 2019, two to three southbound I-805 lanes will be temporarily closed. This work is part of the modernization and expansion of the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry (LPOE).

Travelers are advised to plan ahead for potential delays, monitor media, and traffic reports, and adhere to posted signage which announces changes to freeway patterns on affected roadways. Southbound traffic through the San Ysidro LPOE into Mexico will remain open to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during the detour.

WHERE: Southbound I-5 between SR-905 and the San Ysidro LPOE and the Camino De La Plaza I-5 on-ramp.

Additionally, southbound I-805 between SR 905 and the San Ysidro LPOE. 

WHEN: April 14, 2019, beginning at 10 p.m. and ending on April 15, 2019, at 7 a.m.
