CIO Council to Celebrate Women’s History Month by Honoring Women in Tech

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. - In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Chief Information Officers Council (CIOC) is hosting a Women in Federal Information Technology and Cybersecurity event from 9 a.m. to noon on March 29 at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Jefferson Auditorium in Washington, D.C.

The event will bring together the nation’s top federal IT executives, including newly appointed Federal CIO Suzette Kent, to celebrate the success of women thriving in today’s federal IT enterprise and to discuss strategies that engage, inspire and motivate more women to pursue careers in IT and cybersecurity. The event is open to the public and all age groups.

  • Margie Graves, Deputy Federal CIO of the United States
  • Beth Killoran, CIO, U.S. Department Health and Human Services
  • Renee Wynn, CIO, National Aeronautics and Space Administration
  • Jason Gray, CIO, U.S. Department of Education
  • Maria Roat, CIO, Small Business Administration
  • Gary Washington, CIO, U.S. Department of Agriculture
  • Sylvia Burns, CIO, Department of the Interior
  • Joanne Collins Smee,  Acting Director of Technology Transformation Services, U.S. General Services Administration

As demonstrated by the President’s FY 2019 Budget Request, building and maintaining a workforce with modern technology skills is critical to improving delivery of services and outcomes for citizens, and the CIOC is committed to supporting these efforts. Participants will hear from some of the federal IT and cyber community’s most successful leaders as they share their perspectives about how women can succeed in IT careers and pursue IT and cybersecurity career opportunities and learn how the government is developing a modern federal IT workforce.
