Robert “Bobby” Babcock Named Regional Administrator of GSA’s Greater Southwest Region
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced the appointment of Robert “Bobby” Babcock to serve as the regional administrator of GSA’s Greater Southwest Region, effective January 8, 2018.
As the Greater Southwest Regional Administrator, Babcock will oversee all of GSA’s operations in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico; including management of federal real estate and information technology. He will also be responsible for an inventory of 1,476 government-owned or leased buildings and lead a team of more than 700 employees.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Bobby to the GSA leadership team in the Greater Southwest Region,” said GSA Administrator Emily Murphy. “His leadership experience in both public service and industry will be invaluable as we pursue efforts to reduce duplication, generate competition and increase agency transparency .”
Prior to joining GSA, Babcock served in leadership roles in both the public and private sectors. He previously worked as a director for a large government relations firm. Babcock also served as a senior legislative assistant for a U.S. Congressman and legislative aide for a U. S. Senator.
Babcock earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
