On Nov. 8, GSA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) hosted a veteran-focused event  to help educate Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) and Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) about subcontracting opportunities with the federal government.

Representatives from the Small Business Administration (SBA), including the Deputy Director, Sandra Clifford of the All Small Mentor Protege Program, participated in a panel discussion highlighting the program , the latest updates in subcontracting, and opportunities available through Joint Ventures.

“It’s wonderful to have so many GSA prime contractors speak to and connect with our veteran entrepreneurs and share direct insights into how to conduct and grow their business with the federal government”  said OSBU Associate Administrator Charles Manger. “Events like today prepare veteran small business owners to successfully pursue subcontracting opportunities and be prepared for future opportunities.”

Each event participant engaged in a matchmaking session where they were paired with GSA prime contractors to discuss potential subcontracting opportunities. The sessions were approximately 15 minutes long and enabled large and small businesses to meet, engage in lively discussions, and continue their dialogue moving forward.

GSA Administrator Emily Murphy made a surprise appearance at the event and shared how GSA and the SDVOB community continue to work and partner together.

More than 170 SDVOSBs and VOSBs participated in the event along with 25 GSA prime contractors. The response to attend the event was so great, and the engagement was so well received, OSBU looks to hold similar sessions in the near future.
