Order of Succession – Federal Acquisition Service

1. Purpose.

This Order establishes the order of succession for the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS).

2. Designations

In order to ensure at all times an official with appropriate authority, the following officials are designated to serve as Acting FAS Commissioner, in the order shown, if the FAS Commissioner dies, becomes incapacitated, resigns, or is otherwise unable to perform the functions and duties of the position. This will also apply to the order of succession for devolution. If the official designated is not available, the next designated official will act. This Order of Succession replaces any previous FAS Order of Succession.

     A. FAS Deputy Commissioner (Q1)
     B. FAS Assistant Commissioner, Office of Assisted Acquisition Services
     C. FAS Assistant Commissioner, General Supplies and Services
     D. FAS Assistant Commissioner, Professional Services & Human Capital Categories

No official serving in a position listed above in an acting capacity shall act as FAS Commissioner pursuant to this Order. In the event that an official is serving in an acting capacity, the designation will pass to the next-designated permanent incumbent. Further, each official shall act only if the immediately preceding official has died, becomes incapacitated, resigns, or is otherwise unable to perform the functions and duties of the FAS Commissioner.

3. Exercise of Authority

An official serving as Acting FAS Commissioner pursuant to this Order shall, in that capacity, exercise all the authorities and perform all the functions and duties of the FAS Commissioner in addition to performing their regularly-assigned duties, unless such regularly-assigned duties are appropriately delegated or reassigned, in whole or in part.
