GSA publishes final environmental assessment for new federal courthouse
DES MOINES, Iowa – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has released its final environmental assessment [PDF - 10 MB] identifying 101 Locust Street as the preferred site for construction of a new federal courthouse.
GSA has worked closely with city officials to address concerns raised during the public comment period begun in July 2017. The federal courthouse will complement the character and context of the surrounding structures and amenities, interact with the Principal Riverwalk in a way that facilitates pedestrian activities and outdoor recreation, and include publicly-accessible space.
Responses to questions and comments received during last year’s public comment period are included in the final EA.
The document is available on the project website at gsa.gov/desmoinescourthouse, and a paper copy is available for review at the Des Moines Central Library located at 1000 Grand Avenue.
