The intent of the meeting is to gather information from the community and identify shared goals between the Federal Government and the town of Alburgh Springs. During this meeting, GSA will introduce the project team and provide a project overview. Additionally, there will be an open discussion on the public’s experience with the current port, community and business interests, and concurrent or planned town and regional projects.

The project will fully renovate the interior of the historic building to help meet the mission of U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Customs and Border Protection. The renovations will include, but are not limited to, full interior renovation and updated mechanical, electrical and plumbing utilities. The project will incorporate sustainability features that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, mitigate environmental impact and simultaneously increase the mission readiness of the Federal Government by increasing resilience to climate change.

The renovated facility, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will strengthen supply chains, improve operational capabilities and facility infrastructure, spur economic growth, and bolster the country’s security. It includes a total of $3.4 billion for GSA to build and modernize land ports of entry on the country’s northern and southern borders.
