The GSA Access Card is the equivalent of the standard personal identity verification card issued at other federal agencies and departments.
All GSA employees and identified contractors need a card. You are responsible for keeping your information up to date and protecting your card, which acts as:
- GSA identification
- GSA building access
- Credentials for your GSA computer
- Credentials for business applications
How contractors get a GAC
We will identify who needs to have a GAC and coordinate with your company.
-
Work with your vendor point of contact to complete the contractor information worksheet.
-
When you receive a sponsorship email, use the link in it to schedule an enrollment appointment to take your photo and fingerprints.
-
Complete the forms for your background investigation.
-
Follow the directions in emails you get about picking up or activating your GAC.
Maintain your GAC
When you’re not using the card, keep it in the original issued badge holder if you received one. Do not mark on, punch holes in, or bend your card. Avoid storing it in areas subject to excessive heat, such as a dryer, or direct sunlight, such as a vehicle.
Replace or update your GAC
You will receive an email explaining how to schedule an appointment and what to bring if you need your:
- Current card reprinted
- Expiring or expired card reissued
- Expiring certificate updated
Return your GAC
Your card is government property. You must drop off or mail your GAC to:
HSPD-12 Program Management Office
