About the Great Lakes Region

Welcome to GSA’s Great Lakes Region, headquartered in the John C. Kluczynski Federal Building in Chicago, Illinois, and serving federal agencies in:

• Indiana
• Michigan
• Minnesota
• Ohio
• Wisconsin

The Great Lakes Region assists other federal agencies in carrying out their missions by providing office space, supplies, business services, and IT solutions. Through acquisition and other means, GSA fosters an effective, efficient, and transparent government for the American people. The Public Buildins Service maintains federal buildings and public art and is committed to providing value and savings in real estate, acquisition, technology and other mission-support services across government. 

Statistics as of Oct. 1, 2023, GSA’s Great Lakes Region: 

• GSA has 1010 employees sitting in the Great Lakes Region, including  573 regionally reporting Public Buildings Service employees. 
• R5 PBS manages 34M rentable square feet of office space in 965 properties, including:
  • 153 (20.4M rsf) owned properties 
  • 799 (13.5M rsf) leased properties
  • 59 designated historic properties
• The region manages 9 land ports of entry and 8 child care centers. 
• Top customers in revenue for the region the Judiciary for PBS ($125.3M).
• Has 30 installed Art-inArchitecture works.

The six-state Great Lakes Region is home to 73 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 12 U.S. Senators, including the Senate majority whip.
