GSA announces public sale of “The Pink House” in Newbury, Mass., for off-site removal

BOSTON – Starting today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is offering via online auction the structure at 60 Plum Island Turnpike in Newbury, Mass.

Known locally as “the Pink House,” the structure is being auctioned for offsite removal only.

Property Details:

The structure was constructed in 1925. It is an approximately 1,514 square foot two-story residence with an unfinished basement and walk-up attic.

The Pink House is:

  • Constructed of wood, pressboard, shingles and has an asphalt roof.
  • Interior walls are constructed of plaster and sheetrock.
  • Floors are carpet and linoleum.

The structure has been unoccupied for several decades. Due to its age and condition, there is lead-based paint, asbestos and mold; no abatement has been conducted.

THE CONDITION OF THE PROPERTY IS NOT WARRANTED.

No land is included in the sale. Removal of the structure within 90 days of the execution of Bill of Sale is a condition of the auction.

Auction Details:

  • The auction opens at 9:00 a.m. CT (10 a.m. ET) on July 10, 2024.
  • Interested bidders are required to register in advance and submit a $1,500 registration deposit. 
  • The starting bid is $3,000. 
  • Bid increments are $1,000. 
  • Site inspections will only be offered to registered bidders by appointment.
