This virtual event explored ways in which federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial governments are thinking through building public participation and community engagement, or PPCE, into AI design and implementation.

The event was held virtually and offered a chance to engage with representatives from the Office of Management and Budget Office of Performance and Personnel Management on the draft PPCE memo, including its definitions, guiding principles, and framework.
Oct. 15 — Global to local: Lessons for open government and civic engagement for D.C.

This session provided an update on completing commitment numbers 130.1, 130.2, 131, and 142 in the Fifth U.S. Open Government National Action Plan or NAP. Note: Our speaker from the Department of State was unable to attend the session, so an update on commitment 131 was not able to be provided.

During this session, the OMB Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, or OIRA, shared progress on developing guidance and opportunities to expand public participation and community engagement beyond the regulatory process.

During this session, OMB and GSA provided updates on the administration’s commitments to executive orders, priorities and plans and led a discussion on how to improve the ability of federal agencies to deliver programs, services, and benefits in an accessible, equitable, timely, and effective manner.
