Dec. 9 — Intentional public participation and community engagement in AI design and implementation

This virtual event explored ways in which federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial governments are thinking through building public participation and community engagement, or PPCE, into AI design and implementation.

Nov. 26 — Draft PPCE memo and toolkit listening session

The event was held virtually and offered a chance to engage with representatives from the Office of Management and Budget Office of Performance and Personnel Management on the draft PPCE memo, including its definitions, guiding principles, and framework.

Oct. 15 — Global to local: Lessons for open government and civic engagement for D.C.

The event was held in person in Washington, D.C. and explored how international and national open government efforts relate to local communities, such as D.C.

Oct. 9 — Sixth U.S. National Action Plan kick-off and listening session

The session was an opportunity for the public to provide input on commitments that could be included in the next NAP.

Sept. 17 — Open government in the City of Austin

The City of Austin government officials and local civil society met to introduce open government activities at the federal, state and local levels.

July 29 — Open government in action — Emerging practices in participatory algorithm design

We brought together academic experts, local, and federal officials to share research, best practices, and identify lessons learned to ensure that methods used to design algorithms are equitable and inclusive.

July 15 — Open government in the Pacific Northwest

Introducing civil society in the Pacific Northwest to open government activities at the federal, state and local levels.

May 29 — Strengthening democracy and improving our communities across all levels of government: The United States experience

This session explored how open government approaches are strengthening democracy and improving communities at the federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial levels across the United States.

May 2 — Public participation and community engagement RFI listening session

We encouraged public feedback and input on advancing public participation in the federal government.

April 25 — Open government data forum

We provided attendees with the opportunity to learn and share feedback and ideas on the U.S.’s open data efforts.

Feb. 5 — Open government roundtable and GSA public engagement session

This session included speakers and workshops that provided attendees the opportunity to learn and share feedback and ideas on the U.S. open government efforts.

Nov. 2 — Public engagement session: Counter corruption and ensure government integrity and accountability to the public (international focus)

This session provided an update on completing commitment numbers 130.1, 130.2, 131, and 142 in the Fifth U.S. Open Government National Action Plan or NAP. Note: Our speaker from the Department of State was unable to attend the session, so an update on commitment 131 was not able to be provided.

Sept. 26 — Public engagement session: Counter corruption and ensure government integrity and accountability to the public (FOIA focus only)

We provided an overview of the NAP FOIA theme and an update on FOIA agency commitment.

Aug. 16 — Improving access to government data, research, and information

We provided an opportunity to share feedback on how the federal government can improve data, research, and information as open government work continues.

July 27 — Open forum on re-designing the U.S. Open Government website and input on how we track progress on the U.S. National Action Plan

During this session, OMB and GSA shared progress on the redesign of the U.S. Open Government website and facilitated a community discussion on how to track progress on the commitments made by the NAP.

July 20 — Increasing civic space to engage the public

During this session, the OMB Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, or OIRA, shared progress on developing guidance and opportunities to expand public participation and community engagement beyond the regulatory process.

July 12 — Transforming government service delivery

During this session, OMB and GSA provided updates on the administration’s commitments to executive orders, priorities and plans and led a discussion on how to improve the ability of federal agencies to deliver programs, services, and benefits in an accessible, equitable, timely, and effective manner.
